TEA TREE: No green cleaning kit or natural medicine cabinet is complete without tea tree oil. Made from the leaves of the Australian tea tree, the essential oil has been used for hundreds of years to treat cuts and wounds and to prevent infection. The oil has powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a fantastic natural remedy and safe cleaner.
It’s useful for cleaning and deodorizing your household, when diluted with water in a spray bottle. For that reason, tea tree oil has become a popular addition to natural cleaning and beauty products. It needs to be noted that smell is quite sharp, akin to camphor, and can be hard on the olfactory nerve in large quantities. However, when diluted and mixed with other powerful essential oils, such as lemon or orange, it can be quite pleasant.
Some tips and practical uses around the home:
*Kitchen cleaner: mix tea tree oil into warm water or add a few drops to baking soda before scrubbing your sink. For best results you may add some liquid castile soap to the mixture as well.
*Toothbrush, dish scrubber and dishcloth purifier: add a drop of tea tree oil per ounce of water in a jar and let your toothbrush, scrubber or dishcloth sit in the liquid for 10-15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly and air-drying.
* Pet Bedding: clear the air by washing your pet’s bedding and soft toys with a natural laundry detergent and a teaspoon or two of tea tree oil.
* Washer Cleaner: clean out your machine by adding two teaspoons of tea tree oil before running it on an empty self-cleaning or hot cycle. Leave the door open to allow the washer to dry completely when you’re done and at the end of every load to help prevent mold and mildew growth.
* Fight Mold: put 15-20 drops of oil into a pint of warm water, shake well and spray directly on mold to remove. Higher concenrtationmay be required for harder to clean stains. Ensure to spray regulary even after surface is clean to prevent mold return.

PINE OIL is derived from the needles of the Pinus sylvestris tree. Known for being cleansing, refreshing and invigorating, pine oil has a strong, dry, woodsy smell — some even say it resembles the scent of forests and balsamic vinegar.
With a long and interesting history that dates as far back to ancient Greek civilizations, including by Hippocrates himself, pine oil is an age-old therapeutic method for cleansing, reducing pain, increasing energy and relieving stress.
As a detoxifying ingredient and natural disinfectant, pine oil is commonly used in household cleaning products and air fresheners.
Per scientific literature, some of pine essential oil benefits include:
Cleansing the home of bacteria, fungi, pathogens and yeast
Killing odors and purifying the air
Decreasing inflammation
Decreasing allergies
Fighting free radicals through the presence of antioxidants, including polyphenols
Treating muscle aches and pain
Energizing and lifting your mood and focus
Pine oil is closely related to eucalyptus oil in terms of plant species and benefits, so they can be used somewhat interchangeably.
Common uses around the house:
* Natural Air Freshener: for pure, clean-smelling air throughout your home or even car, diffuse pine oil for 15–30 minutes using an oil differ or combine it with some water in a spray bottle and spray around your furniture, countertops, linens or car seats.
* All-Purpose Household Cleaner: simply add several drops of pine oil in warm water in a spray bottle and spray on any surface before wiping down with a clean cloth.
